WGBH The World Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
For 15 years The World has served as public radio's flagship program for bringing foreign news to an
American audience. In conjunction with the BBC, The World has correspondents around the world,
including Jerusalem, Beijing and Barcelona. The program has won numerous awards, including the
Scripps Howard and DuPont, for its news and feature stories.
Internship Description:
The World is looking for a student with a keen interest in the workings of nations beyond our shores.
The editorial intern will assist the senior staff and producers with a variety of tasks, including developing
story ideas, research, and interview preparation. This internship is an opportunity to work with broadcast
professionals to learn the intricacies of putting a daily news program on the radio.
Skills Preferred:
Interns should have excellent research, writing and organizational skills, in addition to a good work ethic.
A candidate should also possess the ability to work independently, take initiative, and must be able to function in a
fast paced environment. The work schedule is flexible and will be determined on an individual basis.
A commitment of 15-20 hours a week is preferred
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
