WGBH Radio/Online Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
Represents WGBH Radio in strategic planning for online and off-broadcast derivations of radio and new media projects. Responsible for identifying and building strategic partnerships with external (and internal) entities, as well as seeking out production opportunities for radio projects, including US and worldwide broadcast.
Internship Description:
The intern for Radio/Online will develop regularly issued video postcards to be published on the web pages of each of 89.7's music genres - classical, jazz, folk, and Celtic. These will be designed to allow audiences access to backstage conversations, in-studio interviews with artists, and other special, web-only features. The duties will include operating a DV camera, desktop editing, collaborating with the Special Projects Producer at each stage of the process. The intern will participate in editorial meetings, observe audio and video recording and mixing sessions, and assist with any research and traffic duties related to the production of the video on the web. Other duties may be assigned. At the end of the internship, this individual will be expected to prepare and deliver a PowerPoint presentation, illustrating process and best practices.
Skills Preferred:
This individual should have familiarity with social networking sites, and possess an eagerness to experiment with the presentation of video on the web. The intern will work 15 hours per week.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
