WGBH Radio News Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
WGBH Radio 89.7FM broadcasts local, national, and international news and talk shows all day from
5AM to 8PM. WGBH News team covers and produces local and national news including in-depth feature
stories and interviews, covering a wide range of topics.
Internship Description:
The news interns provide writing and research for the news anchor/producer during the broadcast
of NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered. The Interns will re-write and freshen local news
copy from the wire services for use in local newscasts. Duties may also include researching specific
news topics, the results of which will be used in news content or for interviews. Additional duties
may include attending press conference, recording sounds in the field, and making outcalls to
newsmakers to arrange interviews for local host/producer.
Skills Preferred:
Must be skilled in Mac-based software including Microsoft Word, web browsers including Firefox.
Must be able to write clear, accurate news copy on deadline. Familiarity with audio recording
equipment and editing software is desired.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
