Education: PBS LearningMedia Internship

WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

Department Description:

PBS LearningMedia is a project of WGBH and PBS. Bringing together the best available high-quality media from 1500 public media producers and more than 350 local PBS stations, PBS LearningMedia is a next-generation digital media platform for PreK-16 classrooms to help re-imagine classroom learning, transform teaching, and more creatively engage students. www.PBSLearningMedia.org

Internship Description:

The intern will work closely with PBS LearningMedia producers and associate producers on a variety of tasks associated with repurposing video and interactive web content. Tasks may include assisting with PBS LearningMedia databases and the website’s content management system, as well as researching stock footage, stills and educational media online. In addition, there may be opportunities to assist video producers with footage rights tracking and preparing raw footage for edit. This internship is ideal for students who are interested in how educational materials are curated for online collections, how broadcast media is repurposed for use online, and how content management systems ensure user-friendly access to multi-faceted digital media collections.

Skills Preferred:

Candidates should be self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented. Knowledge of FileMaker and Excel preferred. Knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut Pro or AVID) is a plus but not required.

WGBH Intern Requirements:

  • WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Internships are unpaid.
