American Experience National Marketing Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
Television's most-watched history series, American Experience has been hailed as "peerless"
(Wall Street Journal), "the most consistently enriching program on television" (Chicago Tribune),
and "a beacon of intelligence and purpose" (Houston Chronicle). On air and online, the series brings
to life the incredible characters and epic stories that have shaped America's past and present.
Acclaimed by viewers and critics alike, American Experience documentaries have been honored with
every major broadcast award, including twenty-four Emmy Awards, four duPont-Columbia Awards, and
fourteen George Foster Peabody Awards, one most recently for Two Days in October.
Internship Description:
The intern will work on a variety of marketing, public relations, and promotion efforts for
American Experience, most notably the use of new media and online social networking tools to
promote WGBH films.
Skills Preferred:
Proficiency in internet research, familiarity with marketing/public relations basics,
familiarity with social networking sites, and strong organizational and writing skills.
Communications, Marketing, TV/Film, or English majors preferred.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
