Media Access Group
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
The Media Access Group is comprised of two divisions - Services which produces captioning and
description for public and commercial television networks, feature films and Web-based multimedia
and a Research and Development division which creates innovative solutions to accessibility challenges
for all kinds of media. The Media Access Group has local, national and international clients as
well as established communications and outreach activities to connect with the audiences we serve,
those who rely on captioning and description to understand and enjoy media of all kinds.
Internship Description:
The Media Access Group intern will provide assistance and support to the department on a variety
of projects and day-to-day work. Assistance researching potential clients in conjunction with our
sales team, adding resources on the departments Web sites, working with the R&D project managers to
build the division's databases and other duties as assigned.
Skills Preferred:
Candidates should possess strong writing skills; familiarity with Mac computers and major
software applications (Microsoft Word, FileMaker, etc.); ability to work independently on projects;
and a basic understanding of administrative/office procedures. Familiarity with public broadcasting
and WGBH programs is a major plus.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
