Local Corporate Sponsorship Internship

WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

The WGBH Internship Program is designed to help students and the Foundation meet our mutual educational goals. 'GBH wants to provide students with hands-on experience through daily activities and assigned long-term projects.

Department Description:

The Corporate Sponsorship division at WGBH is in charge of securing corporate funding in support of all national productions and local media operations by raising awareness in the marketplace of WGBH and PBS productions as a marketing solution. Local Corporate Sponsorship, which falls under the Corporate Sponsorship umbrella, is responsible for securing sponsorship from the New England business community region in support of media and program activities at WGBH.

Internship Description:

Local Corporate Sponsorship is looking for an intern for two to three days per week (about 16-24 hours). The Intern will be working closely with the department by assisting with all aspects of sponsorship sales. The intern may:

  • Help perform market research by using online research tools and by monitoring competitors' sponsors
  • Assist sales team with putting together sales proposals and presentations
  • Assist marketing team with mailings and promotional items
  • Build and maintain marketing materials inventory
  • Assist Local Corporate Sponsorship team with other basic administrative duties

Skills Preferred:

  • Possesses excellent oral and written skills
  • Is familiar with Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Is comfortable learning new computer applications such as web-based research tools and Filemaker Pro
  • Takes direction well and is able to work independently

WGBH Intern Requirements:

  • WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Will award students with credit as requested
  • Internships are unpaid.
