La Plaza Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
For thirty years La Plaza has been the Latino production unit at WGBH. It produces
Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One, a nationally-distributed series which features interviews with prominent
thinkers, artists and leaders.
Internship Description:
The intern will have many opportunities to see a studio production put together from start to finish.
The internship will entail, among other things, researching show ideas and topics and assisting the
producers and production assistant in pre- and post-production coordinating. Duties may include
arranging transportation and catering, labeling tapes, logging footage, getting release forms signed,
greeting guests, assisting at off-site shoots, and helping to market the show.
Skills Preferred:
The interns are expected to have the following skills: knowledge of broadcast media;
familiarity with new media distribution platforms, such as podcasts, vodcasts, and online social
networks; excellent oral and written skills; familiarity with Microsoft Word, FileMaker Pro, and
online services; excellent research skills; a general sense of administrative management; and
tremendous initiative.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
