WGBH Interactive: Developer Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
The Interactive department at WGBH serves as the Foundation's research, development and production
team for new media technologies. The department works closely with national production units to
produce a multitude of media-rich websites supporting WGBH's national prime-time and children's
television series.
Internship Description:
WGBH Interactive is in search of a Quality Assurance intern. We run approximately two dozen web
sites - from Antiques Roadshow to Curious George -- with new sites and content launched monthly. We
need help with testing, responding to user e-mail, archiving and, ideally, assistance with the
debugging process. The ideal candidate would be someone interested in a career in web design or
development, who is willing to get their hands dirty working out thorny technical problems.
Skills Preferred:
Must be willing and able to work on a Macintosh. Exposure to HTML, JavaScript and CSS in a
cross-platform environment required. Experience with wikis desirable.
Majors in Computer Science, Education, Communications, Film and Marketing are encouraged to apply,
as long as they meet the skills requirements.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
