FRONTLINE OutPost Internship

WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

Department Description:

Since 1983, FRONTLINE has served as PBS's flagship public affairs series. Hailed upon its debut as 'the last best hope for broadcast documentaries,' FRONTLINE's stature over 25 seasons is reaffirmed each week through incisive documentaries covering the scope and complexity of the human experience. FRONTLINE OutPost is the online post-production facility where every program is prepared for broadcast.

Internship Description:

FRONTLINE is seeking a Broadcasting or Journalism student who is interested in learning about and assisting with the process of getting a weekly PBS television series on the air. This internship is an opportunity to work with broadcast professionals to learn the intricacies of the post-production process. The intern will assist the Post-Production Assistant and Post-Production Director with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to tracking tapes, archiving field production tapes, and editing show transcripts. The internship will also provide the opportunity to observe AVID online documentary editing sessions.

Skills Preferred:

Interns should be responsible, show initiative, and possess a general understanding of television production. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. This internship requires a commitment of 15-20 hours a week. The work schedule is flexible and will be determined on an individual basis.

WGBH Intern Requirements:

  • WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Internships are unpaid.
