The WGBH Forum Network

Semester: Fall, Spring, and Summer (applications accepted on a rolling basis.)

About the Forum Network:
The WGBH Forum Network is at the forefront of audio and video webstreaming, offering on-demand lectures by some of the world's foremost scholars, authors, artists, scientists, policy makers and community leaders. We are also actively engaged in podcasting and are taking the lead in developing content on and for other new media platforms that are fast approaching.

The core of our mission is to protect and project the public voice, with the intention of inspiring deeper understanding and increased civic engagement. We have 30 partners in the Greater Boston area that we co-produce content with on a regular basis, and also occasionally cover panels at film and music festivals, or public events produced around WGBH television programs.

WGBH Internship Requirements:

  1. WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university
  2. Interns must receive college credit for the internship.
  3. Internships are unpaid

College Major Desired:
Communications, Non-Profit Administration, Library Studies or Media Production

Skills Preferred:
Research or archiving experience preferred; some audio and/or video production experience is preferred. Familiarity with database and spreadsheet software, as well with as Adobe Photoshop and Premier are preferred too.

Duties:

  • Catalog and transfer Forum Network media to WGBH archives/li>
  • Pursue, track and file outstanding rights & clearances
  • Pursue, track and file outstanding media & metadata
  • Assist with upkeep of project virtual & hard files
  • Assist with upgrade/weeding of project website/rich media content
  • Assist with community outreach activities
  • Assist with project promotional efforts
  • Assist with the handling and tracking of audience feedback/FAQs

This position also acts as a second string videographer and helps with post-production as needed. (See the description of our Videography & Post Production position for a full description of the responsibilities involved. Production training is provided.) Minimum commitment is 8 hrs/week.
