Finance Internship

WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

Department Description:

The WGBH Finance Department is responsible for establishing and maintaining the internal financial control structure and environment that enables the Foundation to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and Foundation policies. This encompasses various business needs of WGBH including: monthly Financial Reporting and Analysis, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Billing and Accounts Receivable, Cash Receipts, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Taxes and Travel Expense Reporting.

In addition, the Finance Group is responsible for managing the audits of the Foundation (including the annual audit of WGBH, Federal Audit of Federal Awards in Accordance with OMB Circular A-133 Federal, and audit of the Foundations 403(b) Plans.) The department also prepares the draft Federal tax forms 990 and submits for independent review by the Foundation's audit firm.

Internship Description:

The Intern will gain an understanding of the various functions for which the Finance department is responsible through a range of different projects. Projects may include: learning about the audit process, preparing for future audits, involvement in film tax credit research and analysis, and other various projects/duties as assigned. The intern will be responsible for successfully managing such projects so the ability to multitask is extremely important.

WGBH Intern Requirements:

  • WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Internships are unpaid.
