Educational Outreach

Semester: Fall, Spring, Summer

Department Description: The Educational Outreach department is responsible for national and local educational outreach aimed at educators, parents, children, and community volunteers in schools, libraries, museums, and other community-based organizations. The department creates print and online resources, including teachers' guides, supplemental curricula, family activity booklets, workshop and online training content. In addition, the department develops community campaigns, national content, and outreach events. The Educational Outreach staff develops and delivers trainings for educators and parents on a variety of topics including hands-on science, literacy, health, and English language learner strategies.

WGBH Internship Requirements:

  1. WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university
  2. Interns must receive college credit for the internship.
  3. Internships are unpaid

College Major Desired: Science, Education, English

Skills Preferred:

  • Basic knowledge of Macintosh and FileMaker Pro software
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Familiarity with science curriculum topics helpful but not required

Duties: The role of the intern will be to contribute to the revision of the NOVA Teachers Web site. The intern will catalog features from NOVA Web sites, help update the overall keyword system, and write and assign keywords to descriptive annotations of NOVA Web site features. The intern will assist with development of NOVA lesson plans as needed.
