WGBH Children's Programming Business Internship

WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community. We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.

Department Description:

WGBH's Children's Programming department is responsible for developing, producing, and supervising WGBH television productions for children and families. Children's Programming is committed to creating and delivering the highest quality content on television that engages children and enriches their lives with new learning experiences while providing valuable resources for their parents, caregivers, and families. Current productions include Arthur, Between the Lions, Curious George, Design Squad, Fetch!, Martha Speaks and Peep and the Big Wide World.

Internship Description:

The Children's Programming Business intern will be responsible for assisting the business staff in various aspects of the financial, legal, and administrative activities for numerous series in development and production. The internship position will provide opportunities for students to learn about the many aspects of managing the business affairs for the award-winning series that WGBH Children's Programming produces, including expense management, budgeting, contracting, and office administration. The student will work closely with the staff to gain an understanding of business management for children's television production through hands-on experience.

Skills Preferred:

Candidates should be detail oriented, thorough and organized, and have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office for Mac and familiarity with FileMaker Pro are essential. An interest in not-for-profit management or public media is a plus.

WGBH Intern Requirements:

  • WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
  • Interns must receive college credit for the internship.
  • Internships are unpaid.
