WGBH Interactive: Antiques Roadshow Online Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
WGBH Interactive produces award-winning Web sites and other multimedia projects in collaboration with a wide range of WGBH's national television broadcasts, as well as for other external clients.
Now in its 13th season, Antiques Roadshow is the highest rated primetime television show on PBS, with over 10 million regular viewers. This television show asks the public to bring in their collectibles and antiques to production locations across the country. Thousands of people arrive at our locations to have their items appraised free of charge. Selected items are videotaped with an expert from one of the leading auction houses in America. This "live to tape" production is in production during the summer and involved in pre-production and post-production in the fall, winter, and spring months.
Internship Description:
This is primarily an editorial, not a technical, internship. Reporting to the Senior Interactive Producer for Antiques Roadshow, the intern will provide support in a range of editorial and production tasks relating to the Antiques Roadshow series and Web site, including photo and editorial research, fact checking, copy editing, quality assurance, video logging and screening. Subject to the fall post-production schedule, the intern can also participate in Roadshow staff screenings of Season 13 episode rough-cuts. Occasional administrative and other duties as assigned.
Skills Preferred:
A successful intern candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and exhibit a keen appreciation for details and deadlines. Familiarity with the Mac platform and some experience with video editing software, including FinalCut Pro, will be helpful but not required. No specific college major is required, but successful interns have represented a range of majors in humanities, social sciences, journalism, communications, media studies and film/television production.
WGBH Intern Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
