Antiques Roadshow/Web Internship
Department Description:
WGBH Interactive produces award-winning Web sites and other multimedia projects in collaboration
with a wide range of WGBH's national television broadcasts, as well as educational projects for
other external clients. Antiques Roadshow Online is the companion Web site to the highest-rated
prime-time television series how on PBS, which has an audience of over 10 million regular viewers.
The Web team is currently in production on a major redesign of the site, to include a searchable
database of all appraisal video segments ever featured on the television series. The intern will
work in support of this ongoing project.
WGBH Internship Requirements:
- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Interns must receive college credit for the internship.
- Internships are unpaid
College Major Desired: Television, Media Arts, Journalism, English or other Humanities majors preferred.
Skills Preferred:
The intern candidate must have superior organizational abilities, keen attentiveness to detail,
excellent written and oral communication skills, and should be able to work effectively with a
team of people in a fast-paced environment. Experience using a variety of Web sites and familiarity
with current trends in online multimedia presentation are essential, but technical production
experience is not necessary.
Duties:
Reporting to the Interactive Producer for Antiques Roadshow, the intern will assist in a range of
editorial and production tasks relating to the Antiques Roadshow series and Web site, including:
photo and editorial research, fact-checking, copy-editing, quality assurance, video screening and
logging. Subject to the fall post-production schedule, the intern will also be invited to participate
in Roadshow's staff screenings and critiques of Season 12 episode rough-cuts. Additional
administrative and other duties as assigned
