American Experience Internship
WGBH is public service media for New England - on TV, radio, the Web, and out in the community.
We're the single largest producer of PBS prime-time and online programming, and a major source of
programs heard on public radio from coast to coast. We're a pioneer in educational multimedia and
in media access technologies for people with hearing or vision loss.
Department Description:
Television's most-watched history series, American Experience has been hailed as "peerless" (Wall Street Journal), "the most consistently enriching program on television" (Chicago Tribune), and "a beacon of intelligence and purpose" (Houston Chronicle). On air and online, the series brings to life the incredible characters and epic stories that have shaped America's past and present. Acclaimed by viewers and critics alike, American Experience documentaries have been honored with every major broadcast award, including twenty-four Emmy Awards, four duPont-Columbia Awards, and fourteen George Foster Peabody Awards, one most recently for Two Days in October.
Internship Description:
Tasks would be assigned from various departments within American Experience, such as Marketing, Interactive, Pre-Production, Post-Production, Archive, Contracts and Budget. Duties would include assisting the department staff with research for program websites and productions (such as historical content and image research), and as well as assisting with fact checking, transcriptions, and database management. Day to day duties would be based in wide ranging logistical and administrational support. Tasks assigned vary according to the intern's experience and areas of study as well as the needs of the unit at the time.
Skills Preferred:
Library and Internet research skills are a must. Basic knowledge of Mac Computers, Microsoft Word, and Filemaker Pro is helpful. Telephone and other office skills are a plus.

- WGBH internships are open only to students enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Internships are unpaid.
